Identify corrupted inheritance
Broken Access Control Lists (ACLs) interfere with the NTFS inheritance on the file server. As a result, the subdirectory does not receive the correctly inherited permissions, even though the inheritance is enabled.
To resolve this issue, generate an ARM report that displays the broken ACLs.
-
Log in to the Access Rights Manager application.
-
In the toolbar, click Resources.
-
In the Resources column, maximize File server and select the targeted file server.
-
In the right column, click the Report drop-down arrow and select Report on paths with different access rights.
-
In the Report on paths with different access rights window, enter the report settings.
-
In the Report configuration fields, enter a report name and optional comments regarding the report.
-
In the Objects box and Resources tree, select a report range.
-
Click Start to generate the report.
-
-
Open the spreadsheet file with Microsoft Excel or another spreadsheet application.
-
Configure the spreadsheet.
-
Select the tab that contains the desired resource.
-
Select the third row and add a filter. Filter the column Inheritance corrupted by Yes.
-
See Remove corrupted inheritance for more information.
