Install additional collectors

If no trust exists between the ARM server (domain) and a resource (domain), install an additional collector.

Download the installer

  1. Log on to the ARM server as an administrator.

  2. Navigate to the SolarWinds Customer Portal.

If you do not have a SolarWinds account, see Access the Customer Portal to create an account.

  3. Download the Access Rights Manager Installer. See Install ARM located in the Access Rights Manager Installation and Upgrade Guide for instructions.

Run the installer

  1. Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator.

  2. In the Setup Wizard, select Advanced Installation, and then click Next.

  3. In the Setup Wizard window, select Custom installation and ARM Collector, and then click Next.

  4. Follow the instructions on your screen to complete the installation.

During the collector installation procedure, the SolarWinds ARM Collector Basic Configuration window displays.

To provide enhanced security, enter the ARM Server details (Hostname and port) and Initialization-Code (which can be generated from WebConsole > Settings > Connection Security).

  5. Add the collector using the Configuration application.

Add the collector using the Configuration application

  1. Start the Configuration application.

  2. In the Access Rights Manager Configuration window, click the Collectors tile.

  3. In the Add new collector field, enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the targeted server, and the press Enter. If you do not use the default 55555 port, enter a port number after the name.

If a collector is installed on the target system, the collector will be added to the collectors list and Access Rights Manager will establish a connection. Entering any login credentials is not required. You are finished.

If you experience a connection issue, check your firewall. See Port requirements in the system requirements for troubleshooting.

If the target system is located in a foreign (non-trusted) domain, see Run collectors in foreign domains (non-trusted) for instructions.

If a collector is not installed on the target system, try to install the collector using the push method.
