AD change configuration

You can update your Active Directory (AD) configuration in the Configuration application.

The gray box highlighted with the Active Directory icon includes the resources for your AD configuration, as shown below. After you add and configure your AD scan, you can change the AD resources as needed.

Change your AD configuration

The following steps uses the AD configuration displayed above as an example. Your setting names may vary.

  1. Log in to the Configuration application.

  2. Click Scans.

  3. Locate the AD scan configuration.

  4. Select the account credentials that ARM uses to apply the AD changes. If you leave the option set to "not set", you will be prompted for each change.

SolarWinds recommends using a service account. See Service Account Permissions in the system requirements for details.

  5. Configure the Organizational Unit (OU) used by ARM to create new users and groups.

If you leave this setting to "not set," the ARM user must choose the OU when they create a new user or group. ARM will save the select depending on the user and will suggest it again when the user runs a scan.

  6. Select a recycling OU for this configuration. The OU is used for the "soft delete" function.

  7. If you are using the group wizard, determine which OU that groups automatically created by ARM are placed. If required, add an ARM group prefix.
