Add Aruba orchestrators, wireless controllers, and edge devices

Add Aruba SD-WAN orchestrators, wireless controllers, and edge devices to SolarWinds Observability.

Requirements

  • Supported solutions - Aruba EdgeConnect, Aruba Central

  • Network Collector 2024.4.1 or later

  • Edge devices and orchestrator must be monitored using the same Network Collector.

  • Edge devices are monitored only via API.

    An Aruba EdgeConnect orchestrator is limited to 250 requests/5 seconds for a polling engine. For details, see Aruba API polling limit was exceeded.

Add Aruba EdgeConnect or Aruba Central orchestrators

  1. In SolarWinds Observability SaaS, click Add Data at the top.

  2. On the Add Data dialog, click the Network tab and click Aruba orchestrators and edges.

  3. On Select Orchestrator, review the options, ensure that Add a new orchestrator is selected.

  4. Select the Aruba solution to monitor and click Next.

    • Select Aruba EdgeConnect to add an Aruba SD-WAN orchestrator.

    • Select Aruba Central to add an Aruba Central wireless controller.

  5. Select a network collector or deploy a new one.

  6. On Define Orchestrator Node, provide the polling hostname or IP address of the orchestrator/WAP.

    Optional settings

    • To identify the device in SolarWinds Observability SaaS, specify a display name.
    • To add a custom tag to the device, click Add Tag and specify the key and the value for the tag. You can also add tags to the device on the Summary screen.

  7. Specify authentication details and click Next.

    For Aruba EdgeConnect SD-WAN orchestrators, you have the following options:

    • API Token: Log in to your Aruba EdgeConnect orchestrator and copy the API Token you want to use to identify your orchestrator in SolarWinds Observability.

    • Username & Password: Provide your Aruba EdgeConnect orchestrator credentials.

    For Aruba Central wireless controllers, provide the following details:

    • Customer ID
    • Username
    • Password
    • Client ID
    • Client Secret
    • Base URL

    You can find these details in the Aruba Management Console. See Aruba Central API for more information.

  8. On Summary, review the information and click Submit.

    The device is added for monitoring. To monitor edge devices, complete the steps for Discover and import edge devices for an Aruba orchestrator.

Discover and import edge devices for an Aruba orchestrator

  1. In SolarWinds Observability SaaS, click Add Data at the top.

  2. On the Add Data dialog, click the Network tab and click Aruba orchestrators and edges.

  3. On Select Orchestrator, select Use a monitored orchestrator, select the orchestrator you want to add edges for, and click Next.

    SolarWinds Observability SaaS now starts discovering all edge devices managed by the selected orchestrator. This may take a few minutes.

  4. On Select edge devices..., select the devices you want to add for monitoring and click Next.

    If an edge device is already monitored by the selected Network Collector, the selection is blocked. The check box grayed out.

  5. On Summary Edges, review the information on devices to be added and click Submit.

    The edge device(s) are imported for monitoring.
