CloudFront metrics

Amazon CloudFront is a global content delivery network (CDN) service that securely delivers data, videos, applications, and APIs to your viewers with low latency and high transfer speeds. Ensure your cloud platform is configured in SolarWinds Observability to collect this service's data. See Add an AWS cloud account. CloudWatch metrics must also be enabled for this service in the AWS Console for the metric data to be available.

Depending on the subscription pricing tier of your AWS account or its services, additional metrics may be available for this entity. To collect additional AWS metrics, turn on additional CloudFront distribution metrics.

Many of the collected metrics from CloudFront entities are displayed as widgets in SolarWinds Observability explorers; additional metrics may be collected and available in the Metrics Explorer. You can also create an alert for when an entity's metric value moves out of a specific range. See Entities in SolarWinds Observability for information about entity types in SolarWinds Observability.

The following table lists some of the metrics collected for these entities. To see the CloudFront metrics in the Metrics Explorer, type AWS.CloudFront in the search box.

Metric	Units	Description
AWS.CloudFront.4xxErrorRate	Percent (%)	4xx error rate. The average percentage of all viewer requests for which the response's HTTP status code is 4xx.
AWS.CloudFront.5xxErrorRate	Percent (%)	5xx error rate. The average percentage of all viewer requests for which the response's HTTP status code is 5xx.
AWS.CloudFront.BytesDownloaded		Bytes downloaded. The average number of bytes downloaded by viewers for GET, HEAD, and OPTIONS requests.
AWS.CloudFront.BytesUploaded		Bytes uploaded. The average number of bytes that viewers uploaded to your origin with CloudFront using POST and PUT requests.
AWS.CloudFront.Requests		Requests. The total number of viewer requests received by CloudFront for all HTTP methods and for both HTTP and HTTPS requests.
AWS.CloudFront.TotalErrorRate	Percent (%)	Total error rate. The average percentage of all viewer requests for which the response's HTTP status code is 4xx or 5xx.
