Add Fortinet orchestrators and edge devices

Add Fortinet FortiManager SD-WAN orchestrators, edge devices, and FortiEdge Cloud wireless controllers to SolarWinds Observability.

Requirements

Supported devices - Fortinet FortiManagers, FortiEdge Cloud wireless controllers
Network Collector 2024.4.1 or later
Edge devices and orchestrator must be monitored using the same Network Collector.
Edge discovery is only supported for Fortinet FortiManagers.

A Fortinet FortiManager orchestrator is limited to 250 requests/5 seconds for a polling engine.

In SolarWinds Observability SaaS, click Add Data at the top.
On the Add Data dialog, click the Network tab and click Fortinet orchestrators and edges.
On Select Orchestrator, review the options, ensure that Add a new orchestrator is selected.
Select the Fortinet solution to monitor and click Next.
- Select Fortinet FortiManager to add a Fortinet SD-WAN orchestrator.
- Select FortiEdge Cloud to add a FortiEdge Cloud wireless controller.
Select a network collector or deploy a new one.
On Define Orchestrator Node, provide the polling hostname or IP address of the node.
Optional settings
- To identify the device in SolarWinds Observability SaaS, specify a display name.
- To add a custom tag to the device, click Add Tag and specify the key and the value for the tag. You can also add tags to the device on the Summary screen.
Provide details for the selected Fortinet solution and click Next.
- If you are adding a Fortinet FortiManager SD-WAN orchestrator, provide your Username, Password, and ClientID.
- If you are adding a FortiEdge Cloud wireless controller, provide your Username, Password, and AccessTokenUrl.
On Summary, review the information and click Submit.

The device is added for monitoring. To monitor edge devices, complete the steps for Discover and import edge devices for a Fortinet orchestrator.

In SolarWinds Observability SaaS, click Add Data at the top.
On the Add Data dialog, click the Network tab and click Fortinet orchestrators and edges.
On Select Orchestrator, select Use a monitored orchestrator, select the orchestrator you want to add edges for, and click Next.

SolarWinds Observability SaaS now starts discovering all edge devices managed by the selected orchestrator. This may take a few minutes.
On Select edge devices..., select the devices you want to add for monitoring and click Next.

If an edge device is already monitored by the selected Network Collector, the selection is blocked. The checkbox grayed out.
On Summary Edges, review the information on devices to be added and click Submit.

The edge device(s) are imported for monitoring.
