The following new features, improvements, and fixed issues were made to SolarWinds Observability SaaS during December.
DEM new features and improvements
- On the RUM tab, the Bounce Rate widget details the amount of visitors who navigated away from your site after one page visit.
APM new features and improvements
Enhanced Average Trace Response Time Breakdown widget
Use advanced features to dive deeper into time spent across traced operations.

Filter to view one operation type at a time and show details in the chart for the selected interval.

Drill down to operation Insights or Trace Explorer for a service from data points in the widget.
Remote Services tab in Trace Details view
Gain insight into all your remote services and their respective transactions and track the flow of requests across multiple services within a distributed system.
Caches tab in Trace Details view
Monitor the performance and effectiveness of the caching mechanism, clearly identifying when a cache hit or miss occurs within the overall request flow.
General improvements

Serverless monitoring of AWS Lambda is now enabled for all APM customers. Supported languages: Java, Node.JS, Go, Python and Ruby.

Updated Alerts tab layout in the Service Details view now provides active and historical alerts, and the flexibility to create new alerts from the APM window.
Database new features and improvements
Database alert templates
Add new database alerts using the alerting templates. On the Alert Settings Templates page, there are new alert templates for Database instances including: Database configuration change, Database connection error, Database instance stopped sending data, Database server restart, and new important query.
Network new features and improvements
- The Topology legend provides an explanation of connection and node icons.
- Click a link on the Topology view to directly access interface details.
- Add UPS devices and monitor their status, battery capacity, temperature and time on battery, and more. See Monitor UPS.
- Support for UnDP data sources: Create SNMP-based custom pollers for custom metrics and assign the poller to nodes on a Network Collector.
- Discovery import for other devices: Devices that were not recognized as Network Devices or Hosts on a Network Collector and thus were labeled as Other can now be imported to SolarWinds Observability. During the import, you can specify whether to import them as Network Devices or Hosts. This requires Network Collector 2024.4.1.
- Improved Network Collector deployment. Use the Add Data wizard to deploy Network Collectors with the installation wizard running in the background.
Infrastructure new features and improvements
General Kubernetes improvements
- Lists of Kubernetes resources (nodes, pods, services) utilize lazy loading to improve responsiveness of the website.
- Improvements to calculation of Persistent Volume Claim usage.
- The Kubernetes cluster summary page has been reorganized. Additionally, it now shows the state of the data collection and links to some of the new built-in dashboards.
- New alert templates have been added.
- New built-in dashboards for KubeAPI, ETCD, CoreDNS, Controller Manager, Cert Manager have been added.
- Metrics, logs, and events from Kubernetes clusters cannot be filtered by related resource labels or annotations anymore.
- The flow for setting up Kubernetes Observability using the Add Data wizard has been updated.
- Metrics discovery now supports also pods on AWS Fargate clusters.
- Pods can be filtered by their cluster.
- In addition to Docker, AWS EKS, and Azure AKS, Kubernetes Observability supports also OpenShift clusters.
SolarWinds Observability Agent
- Support for Red Hat 6 was added.
- Add Agent wizard was added for customers with active Database subscription. Users can add Agents without host monitoring.
- Deploy a new Agent in the Add Database, Add Integrations, and Add Logs (Agent-based) wizards.
- The VMware item was added to the Platform filter on the Agents page.
New features and improvements to explorers and analyzers
- Top Entity widgets for custom dashboards can now add multiple associated metrics.
- Group By for widgets will fetch both metric and entity attributes.
- Downsampling data has been optimized for queries, removing inconsistencies between raw and downsampled metrics.
- Autocomplete added to Composite Metric Editor for metric names.
- Time selector now includes an "All Day" option.
- Send to Dashboard feature now sends filters and Group By conditions applied to Metrics Explorer to Dashboard.
- Improved look and feel of the event graph.
- Advanced highlighting for Composite Metric Editor forumulas.
