Manage observed network devices in SolarWinds Observability SaaS
Starting with 2024.1, you can manage devices network devices and servers monitored by a Network Collector directly from SolarWinds Observability SaaS.
You can access the management options from the Network area overview, from the Entity Explorer, or from device details views.
Managing network devices and servers monitored by a network collector, requires Owner, Admin, or Viewer permissions. See Permissions.
Pause collecting data for monitored devices (SolarWinds Observability SaaS)

Find the network device you want to pause collecting metrics for in the Network area overview or in the Entity Explorer.

To pause collecting the metrics:

Click the vertical ellipsis at the end of the entity row and select Pause metrics collection.
To access the action from a network device details page, click the vertical ellipsis in the top right and select Pause metrics collection.

Select one or more network devices and click the Pause metrics collection button.

- Confirm the change.
No new data will be collected for the selected entity/entities but you will still see the network devices in SolarWinds Observability SaaS. No alerts will be triggered for devices with paused metrics collection. The icon in the Monitoring column will change to Paused.
Resume collecting data for monitored devices (SolarWinds Observability SaaS)

Find the network device you want to resume collecting metrics for in the Network area overview or in the Entity Explorer.

To resume collecting the metrics:

Click the vertical ellipsis at the end of the entity row and select Resume metrics collection.
To access the action from a network device details page, click the vertical ellipsis in the top right and select Resume metrics collection.

Select one or more network devices, and click the Resume metrics collection button.

- Confirm the change.
Data for the selected entity/entities be collected and displayed in SolarWinds Observability SaaS. Alerts will be triggered if the trigger condition occurs. The icon in the Monitoring column will change to Active.
Import discovered entities (SolarWinds Observability SaaS)
In SolarWinds Observability SaaS Area Overviews
Starting with Network Collector 2024.2.10, you can see newly discovered entities or child entities directly in SolarWinds Observability SaaS. You can also import the updates directly from area overviews.

In SolarWinds Observability SaaS, click Network > Discovered in the left navigation.
To import discovered updates for hosts monitored by a Network Collector, click Infrastructure > Hosts > Discovered tab.
The Discovered tab shows all discovered entities (network devices or hosts) on a connected Network Collector with their status:

Imported: Entities that are already monitored.

Found: Entities that were discovered and are not monitored yet.

Changed: Entities with new elements, such as interfaces or volumes, discovered.
Click an entity to display more details, such as a list of discovered interfaces, volumes, or other discovered elements (highlighted with a plus icon).
Use filters to filter discovered entities by their properties, such as status, machine type, or discovery profile.

To import discovered updates, select the entities and click Import.
In SolarWinds Observability SaaS Settings
Starting with Network Collector 2023.4, you are notified about discovery results run on your Network Collector or SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted instance connected via Platform Connect.
In SolarWinds Observability SaaS, click Settings > Network Discoveries. You can review details on discoveries, such as the discovery status, frequency, last run time, or the number of newly discovered and changed items.

To re-run a discovery, click the vertical ellipses at the end of the discovery row and click Run now.

To import the newly discovered or updated items for monitoring, click the vertical ellipsis and click Import all results.
List and change resources monitored for network devices or hosts monitored by a Network Collector

Find the device or host, click the vertical ellipsis, and click List Resources.
Network devices

In Network area overview, click the vertical ellipsis at the end of the device row on the Overview tab.

In network device details, click the vertical ellipsis in the top right corner of the page.
Hosts monitored by a Network Collector

In the Infrastructure area overview, click Hosts.
- On Overview, click the filter icon, find NC Host, and select Enabled. Only hosts monitored by a Network Collector are displayed.
- Click the vertical ellipsis at the end of a host row.
The resources available on the device/host are displayed.
Resource loading times depend on the number of resources associated with the device.

Select or clear boxes for resources as appropriate and save your changes.
Remove devices (SolarWinds Observability SaaS)
When you remove a device from SolarWinds Observability SaaS, the entity is removed but the historical data is retained. Calculations using this data are not affected.

Select the entity you want to remove either in the Network area overview or in the Entity Explorer. Management buttons for your selection will be displayed above the entities table.
You can remove network devices, servers, or hosts monitored by a Network Collector.
You can remove multiple network devices and servers simultaneously.

Click Remove, and then click Remove again in the confirmation dialog.
As an alternative, you can hover over the table row, click the vertical ellipses () in the far-right column, and select the option in the menu. On device details view, find the vertical ellipsis in the top-right corner of the view.
The entity is removed both from the Network Collector and SolarWinds Observability SaaS.
If the entity re-appears in the Entity Explorer, delete it again. This can be caused by latency, long message queues, or other connection issues.
