Define what users can access and do in Intelligent Maps

Each user or group account can have different Intelligent Maps privileges applied to it, such as the ability to add images to a map.

By default, maps are visible only to the user who created them (the owner). See Set visibility and owner for details.

1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console as an administrator.

2. Click Settings > All Settings in the menu bar.

3. Click Manage Accounts in the User Accounts grouping.

4. Select an account and click Edit.

5. Specify the Intelligent Maps account access options.

   Users with Allow Administrator Rights set to Yes do not require map-specific permissions. Administrators can view, edit, create, delete, clone, and rename all maps, as well as change any map's owner or import any valid maps.

   • Allow management of Intelligent Maps

     • Yes - the user can view, edit, create or delete, clone and rename all maps (even if he is not the map's owner). The user can also import his own maps.

       To import all valid maps, the user also needs Allow Administrator Rights set to Yes.

     • No - by default, the user can view, edit, create, delete, clone and rename only their own maps (maps which he owns).

   • Allow upload of images to Intelligent Maps

     • Yes - the user can edit and upload images or icons to Intelligent Maps.

     • No - the user cannot edit or upload images to Intelligent Maps. Image modifying buttons are disabled.

6. New account settings are applied when a user next logs in.

 

Overview of tasks for user accounts

Task	Setting	What to set in the user account
View, edit, create, or delete Intelligent Maps	Allow management of Intelligent Maps By default, this is set to Yes.	To view, edit, create, or delete all maps, set to Yes. To view public maps and manage their own maps (create, edit, or delete), set to No.
Import maps	Allow management of Intelligent Maps	To allow import of maps, where the user is the map's owner, set Allow management of Intelligent Maps to Yes. To prohibit importing any maps, set Allow management of Intelligent Maps to No. Only administrators can import all valid maps (users who have Allow Administrator Rights set to Yes).
Clone maps	Allow management of Intelligent Maps	By default, users can clone maps where they are set as the map’s owner. To clone maps without being the map’s owner, set Allow management of Intelligent Maps to Yes.
Rename maps	Allow management of Intelligent Maps	By default, users can only rename maps where they are set as the map’s owner. To rename maps without being the map’s owner, set Allow management of Intelligent Maps to Yes.
Upload images/icons to Intelligent Maps	Allow upload of images to Intelligent Maps Defaults: New user accounts have this set to disabled. New admin accounts have this permission enabled.	To allow uploading images, set to Yes. To prohibit uploading images, set to No.
