Define what users can access and do in Intelligent Maps

Each user or group account can have different Intelligent Maps privileges applied to it, such as the ability to add images to a map.

By default, maps are only visible to the user who created them (the owner). See Set visibility and owner for details.

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console as an administrator.
  2. Click Settings > All Settings in the menu bar.
  3. Click Manage Accounts in the User Accounts grouping.
  4. Select an account and click Edit.
  5. Specify the Intelligent Maps account access options.
  6. New account settings are applied when a user next logs in.

Should the user be able to edit Network Atlas maps?

Set "Allow management of Network Atlas maps" to Yes.

  • By default, accounts have this permission enabled.

In SolarWinds Platform 2020.2.4 and earlier, this permission was named "Allow maps management". The permission setting from earlier versions is carried over.

Should the user be able to view, edit, create, delete, or import maps to Intelligent Maps?

Set "Allow management of Intelligent Maps" to Yes.

If set to No, the user can only view maps. All map modifying buttons are disabled and the user cannot edit, create, or delete maps.

  • By default, accounts have this permission enabled.
Should the user be able to upload images/icons to an Intelligent Map?

Set "Allow upload of images to Intelligent Maps" to Yes.

If set to No, image modifying buttons are disabled and the user cannot edit or upload images/icons to maps.

  • By default, new user accounts have this permission disabled.
  • By default, new admin accounts have this permission enabled.
