View logs and events with the Orion Log Viewer
This SolarWinds Platform topic applies only to the following products:
Hybrid Cloud Observability Essentials — Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced
NCM — NPM — SAM — UDT — VMAN
The Orion Log Viewer (OLV) provides a singular view into event messages received from nodes monitored by your SolarWinds Platform products. You can access your syslog and trap messages, monitor VMware events, filter and search event logs, integrate Orion alerts, and more. To access the Orion Log Viewer in the SolarWinds Platform Web Console, navigate to Alerts & Activity > Syslogs (or Traps).*
- Upon installation, the Orion Log Viewer replaces the legacy Syslog and Trap Viewers, existing syslog and traps messages are only available in read-only format, and existing rules are not migrated.
The Orion Log Viewer requires Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP1 or higher (Azure SQL and Azure Managed Instance are also supported). Otherwise, the legacy Syslog and Trap Viewers will remain the primary log management tools.
