Log Viewer installation scenarios

The following table addresses a variety of Log Viewer add-on installation scenarios applicable to select SolarWinds Platform products.

Product	New installation	Upgrade
NPM, NCM, SAM, UDT, VMAN*	Standard Installation: If you have Microsoft SQL 2016 SP1 or newer, Log Viewer installs by default. Lightweight Installation: This option automatically installs Log Viewer.	Legacy syslogs and traps are automatically upgraded to Log Viewer. Syslogs and traps data are not migrated and are only available in the database. Rules are migrated automatically.
Other SolarWinds Platform products	Log Viewer is not an installation option	Same as the new installation scenario, unless you select additional products (e.g., NPM) during upgrade.

*Log Viewer is required for viewing VMware events with VMAN.
