SEM deployment example

The following illustration highlights the software components, log files, and network protocols in a typical SolarWinds SEM deployment.

A complete SEM installation includes the following components:

  • SEM Manager (or SEM VM): Collects and processes log and event information. This component is installed first.

  • Desktop software or web user console: Allows you to view your SEM deployment from a desktop or laptop computer. If your SEM deployment is integrated with the SolarWinds Platform, the web console is installed on the SolarWinds Platform server.

    When the integration is completed, you can access the web console at:
