Deploy SEM on Nutanix
Use the following information to deploy Security Event Manager (SEM) on Nutanix.
Upload disks as images
The following instructions are for open virtualization format (OVA) files and virtual hard disk (VHDX) files.
Upload OVA disks as images

Unzip or untar the OVA image to extract the disks
lem-disk1.vmdk
(for SEM’s system) andlem-disk2.vmdk
(for SEM’s data). -
Log into Prism.

In the main menu, click the gear icon and select Image Configuration.

On the Image Configuration window, click Upload Image and upload an image for each disk.

Enter a name for the image.

Under Image Type, select Disk.
-
Under Storage Container, select your preferred container.

Select Upload a file and then upload your VMDK disk.
After the disks are uploaded, they might appear as INACTIVE.

In the menu bar, check the Recent tasks list to confirm the images are being updated to convert the images files to AHV-compatible images.
Upload VHDX disks as images

Log into Prism.

In the main menu, click the gear icon and select Image Configuration.

On the Image Configuration window, click Upload Image and upload an image for each disk.

Enter a name for the image.

Under Image Type, select DISK.
-
Under Storage Container, select your preferred container.

Select Upload ad file and then upload your VMDK disk.
Deploy the VM

Go to VM > Table and click Create VM.

Enter the name of your VM.

Select the time zone.
-
Confirm the Use the VM as an agent VM option is unchecked.

Enter the Compute Details.

Confirm Legacy BIOS is selected because SEM currently does not use UEFI boot.
Unless you are an admin, you cannot change the Boot Priority.

Add SEM discs. The disk with the SEM’s system is the bootable disk.

Under Type, select DISK.
-
Under Operation, select Clone from Image Service.

Under Bus Type, select SCSI (SATA works as well)

Under Image, select disk with the SEM system (lem-disk1.vmdk).

Click Add and repeat the same process with the other disk.

To deploy the VM to a specific Host, select the VM Host Affinity option.

Save and wait for the VM to finish being created.

Power on the machine and then launch the console to reach the BSOL.
