Migrating from Librato
Librato users will be very familiar with the dashboards, charts, alerts and composites used in host and infrastructure monitoring and custom metrics monitoring - that's because AppOptics is built on the experience we gained from creating Librato. If you have a Librato account you may be able to transition to AppOptics.
Librato changed the underlying data model from single dimension (SD, using sources) to a multi-dimensional model (MD, using tags that are key/value pairs) in early 2015. If you have a pure MD account, we will be able to flip a switch so that you can access all your dashboards, charts, metrics, alerts, and composites through the AppOptics app. Your account is definitely MD if you signed up after January 24th, 2017.
For hybrid accounts (accounts that support both SD and MD metrics) we recommend that you convert all your SD metrics to MD first. You can then contact the AppOptics customer support team to have your account converted to an AppOptics account.
Accounts that only support sources currently do not have a good migration path. That said, if you ask us to configure your account that only has SD metrics to only support MD, all metrics will continue to report and the source will be converted into a source tag (so the key is "source" and the value is the old source).
Note for Librato customers: If you already have a Librato login you can use it for AppOptics as well. Any admin on an AppOptics org can invite you to the organization; you can then just use your Librato credentials to log in. Keep in mind that you will NOT be able to use your Librato login to create a new organization. Once the new organization is created you can invite your own Librato account and then log in with your Librato credentials. Please contact the AppOptics customer support team if you have issues signing up.
Navigation Notice: When the APM Integrated Experience is enabled, AppOptics shares a common navigation and enhanced feature set with other integrated experience products. How you navigate AppOptics and access its features may vary from these instructions.
