Introduction to EOC

Discover Enterprise Operations Console (EOC), designed for unified visibility and operational control across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructures.

Download the PDF: EOC Product Guide (formerly known as Administrator Guide)

Enterprise Operations Console runs on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform. See the SolarWinds Platform Product Guide to learn about common features, such as adding devices, managing users, customizing your deployment, or viewing monitored devices on maps.

What you monitor

Organizations often deploy multiple SolarWinds Platform environments because of mergers and acquisitions, geographic distribution, business unit separation, and managed service provider (MSP) requirements. In these distributed deployments, each SolarWinds Platform instance operates independently and does not natively share monitoring data with other deployments. For an overview of distributed deployments, SolarWinds Sites, and EOC concepts, see Deploying SolarWinds EOC.

EOC provides centralized monitoring and management across connected SolarWinds Sites, enabling administrators to monitor distributed environments, review enterprise-wide status and alerts, access centralized reporting, and identify issues that span multiple deployments from a single interface.

To add monitored environments to EOC, see Add a SolarWinds Site to EOC.

EOC enables centralized visibility across the following capability areas:

  • SolarWinds Platform environments

  • Nodes and network devices

  • Applications and servers

  • Virtual infrastructure

  • Storage resources

  • Alerts and events

  • Maps and dashboards

Monitor SolarWinds Platform deployments

EOC aggregates data from multiple SolarWinds Platform instances into a single view. Administrators can register primary polling engines and additional polling engines from different geographic locations, business units, or customer environments.

Each connected SolarWinds Platform deployment continues to operate independently while sharing summarized monitoring information with EOC. To administer SolarWinds Sites, see Manage SolarWinds Sites.

Monitor network infrastructure

EOC provides centralized visibility into the health and availability of monitored network infrastructure across all connected SolarWinds Platform deployments. Network status, availability, performance metrics, and events can be viewed without switching between individual SolarWinds servers.

Administrators can quickly identify issues affecting multiple environments and navigate directly to the appropriate SolarWinds Platform instance for detailed investigation. To view consolidated status information from connected SolarWinds Sites, see View consolidated SolarWinds Site data.

Monitor application, servers, and virtual infrastructure

Application, server, virtualization, and storage data from connected SolarWinds Platform deployments can be viewed centrally within EOC. This consolidated view allows administrators to assess the health of critical infrastructure regardless of where it is monitored.

Detailed troubleshooting continues within the originating SolarWinds Platform deployment while EOC provides a unified operational overview. To view application, server, virtualization, and storage data from connected SolarWinds Sites, see View information from SolarWinds Sites.

Monitor alerts and events

EOC consolidates alerts and events generated by connected SolarWinds Platform environments. Administrators can review active alerts, acknowledge issues, and prioritize incidents from a centralized interface.

Alert information includes severity, source deployment, affected objects, and current status, allowing operations teams to quickly identify and respond to issues across the enterprise. To work with active alerts in EOC, see View and acknowledge alerts. To clear events from EOC views, see View and clear events. Use View events, alerts, and audit events to investigate activity across connected SolarWinds Sites.

View maps and dashboards

EOC provides centralized dashboards and maps that display the health and status of monitored environments. These views help administrators understand the operational state of distributed infrastructure and identify problem areas at a glance.

Dashboards can summarize information from multiple SolarWinds Platform deployments, providing a unified operational perspective for enterprise monitoring. See Dashboards for information about dashboard functionality. To understand the difference between Network Atlas and Worldwide maps and how to import, place, and display maps from SolarWinds Sites, see SolarWinds Site maps and how to import, place, and display maps from SolarWinds Sites in EOC, see SolarWinds. To display maps from connected SolarWinds Sites, see Display maps from SolarWinds Sites in EOC.

Observe enterprise data

Use EOC to explore summarized information across all connected SolarWinds Platform deployments. The centralized interface displays overall environment health, active alerts, monitored object status, and deployment availability.

When additional investigation is required, administrators can launch directly into the associated SolarWinds Platform deployment for detailed monitoring data and object-specific information. To explore enterprise-wide monitoring data, see View Information from SolarWinds Sites.

Analyze operational data

You can analyze enterprise monitoring data using the following capabilities:

  • Enterprise Summary: Review the overall health and status of connected SolarWinds Platform deployments. To customize the information displayed in the Enterprise Summary view, see Customize the Environment Summary widget. To view consolidated monitoring data across connected SolarWinds Sites, see View consolidated SolarWinds Site data.

  • Alerts View: Examine active alerts across all registered environments to identify critical issues that require attention.

  • Maps: Visualize the status of monitored environments and understand relationships between deployments.

  • Dashboards: Monitor key operational metrics using centralized dashboards that aggregate information from multiple deployments.

  • Deployment Details: Review the health and availability of each registered SolarWinds Platform instance and access detailed information in the originating deployment.

To create, customize, and view reports, see Manage reports.

To learn how to import reports from connected SolarWinds Sites, see Import reports from SolarWinds Sites to EOC.

Manage enterprise monitoring

EOC allows administrators to manage registered SolarWinds Platform deployments, monitor synchronization status, and maintain connectivity between EOC and connected environments.

Administrators can add or remove monitored deployments, review registration status, and verify communication between EOC and individual SolarWinds Platform servers.

To manage custom properties across SolarWinds Sites, see Manage SolarWinds Platform Site custom properties in EOC. To understand custom properties, see Global and local custom properties in EOC. To standardize properties across environments, see Consolidate custom properties into a single global property in EOC.

Manage users and security

User authentication and access within EOC are managed through the connected SolarWinds Platform environment and Windows authentication, depending on deployment configuration.

Administrators can add user accounts to EOC, manage access to EOC, configure communication security between connected deployments, and maintain the operational integrity of the enterprise monitoring environment.

To manage user accounts, see Manage user accounts in EOC. To control access to SolarWinds Site data, see Define what SolarWinds Site data a user can access in EOC.
