IMAP4 User Experience monitor
This SAM component monitor tests an email round trip from an SMTP mail server to a IMAP4 server, and measures the time it takes to complete the trip, measured in milliseconds.
This component monitor uses the following ports when used with a Microsoft Exchange mail server:
- 143 and 993 - IMAP4
- 25 - SMTP
This component monitor does not compute a statistic.

Customize descriptions to specify what will be monitored so related alerts and notifications are more meaningful later.
Determines whether the component is enabled. Disabling the component leaves it in the application in a deactivated state not influencing either SolarWinds SAM application availability or status.
Credential for Monitoring
Select a credential that can retrieve email from an IMAP4 server that matches the user for whom the mailbox will be monitored.
Select a credential or use the <Inherit credential from node> option. If the credential you need is not in the credentials list, add it in the Credentials Library. See Understand the Credentials Library for details.

Select an encryption protocol to connect to IMAP4 servers that support SSL or TLS encryption.
Specify the SMTP server that sends the test email message.

Use Credentials for SMTP
Enable this option to utilize the user name and password from Credentials for Monitoring to connect to SMTP servers that support or require authentication.
Select an encryption protocol to connect to SMTP servers that support SSL or TLS encryption.
Response Time Threshold
Set the warning or critical threshold conditions based on the response time. The response time is the time in milliseconds it takes SAM to determine that a component is not Down and to retrieve any statistical data. See Application Monitor Thresholds.
