New features and improvements

SAM 2022.4 offers new features and improvements compared to previous releases.

SAM 2022.4 is built on the SolarWinds Platform and installed with the SolarWinds Installer.

With 2022.4, you can apply API templates via the SolarWinds API/SDK and use the Orion.API.Poller.AssignTemplate to assign an API template to a node programmatically.

Additionally, with 2022.4, AWS and Azure SDKs have been updated to the newest version.

Known issues

Issue Notes

PollingInterval, SkipCertificateValidation, UseOrionProxy parameters are not working for API Poller via swis.

No workaround is currently available.

With Kubernetes v1.25 and higher, CMAN is unable to monitor Azure AKS.

As a workaround, downgrade containerd runtime in Kubernetes so Hybrid Cloud Observability can monitor container details.

When using the Add Node Wizard to assign an AppInsight for Exchange node, an error appears stating: Remote Configuration Failed Remote configuration was unsuccessful due to the following: An error occurred during Exchange Server configuration.

As a workaround, change the polling method to Agent, then run Exchange zero config. OR Generate the Zero Config script and manually run it on the target system. Click here for details.

End of support

This version of SAM no longer supports the following platforms and features.

Type Details
Database SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2014 are no longer supported for use as the SolarWinds Platform or Orion Platform database.

Syslog and traps

Legacy Syslog and Traps functionality has been removed. During an upgrade, legacy syslog and trap rules are migrated to the Log Viewer. A few rule conditions are not currently supported in the new log functionality. Any rules that are not imported are listed in the Migration Report.

For information on upgrading SAM, see Install or Upgrade SAM.
