These release notes describe the new features, improvements, and fixed issues in Patch Manager 2020.2. They also provide information about upgrades and describe workarounds for known issues.

New features and improvements
Patch Manager 2020.2 offers new features and improvements compared to previous releases of Patch Manager.
Streamlined web console installation for production environments
You can now configure the Patch Manager Web Console settings in the Orion Installer for a production environment. When you select Standard Installation and complete the Orion Configuration Wizard, the Web Reports user and Patch Manager database connection are automatically configured for you, requiring no additional setup.
Improved Patch Manager Web Console performance
This release includes Patch Manager Web Console updates that improve the graphics rendering and data collection performance displayed on the Patch Manager Summary page.
Updated computer group task scheduling
Scheduled tasks now support Patch Manager dynamic computer groups. When you add or remove a client computer from one of these groups, the computer is automatically added or removed from the scheduled task.
Silent Mode installation support
You can now install the Patch Manager Web Console on the Orion server by running the Orion Installer in Silent Mode. This process allows you to install the console without displaying the Orion Installer user interface.
Internal improvements
This release includes additional updates that improve the product stability and functionality.

This release adds support for the following platforms:

New customer installation
To install Patch Manager on a dedicated server running a supported Microsoft Windows Server operating system, use the Patch Manager 2020.2 Installer.
To integrate Patch Manager 2020.2 with the Orion Platform, use the SolarWinds Orion Installer to install the Patch Manager Integration Module. This module includes the Patch Manager Web Console and all required Orion services. After you run the installer, log in to the Orion Web Console and click My Dashboards > Patches to access the Patch Manager Web Console.
To download both installers, log in to the SolarWinds Customer Portal, select Downloads > Download Product, and choose the Patch Manager product and license.
Before you upgrade!
If you are upgrading from a previous version, do the following:
- Make sure your server complies with the Patch Manager 2020.2 system requirements.
- Back up any custom code, such as changed SolarWinds .css files or added .js files. These files my be overwritten with the upgrade. Learn more.
How to upgrade
If you are upgrading the Patch Manager application, use the Patch Manager Installer. See the Patch Manager Installation and Upgrade Guide for instructions. This guide includes detailed information to help you plan, complete, and troubleshoot your upgrade.
If you are upgrading the Patch Manager Web Console on the Orion server to version 2020.2, use the SolarWinds Orion Installer. Using this installer, you can upgrade the Patch Manager Web Console and your Orion Platform products in one session. See the Orion Platform Products Installation and Upgrade Guide for instructions.
