Patch Manager Installation and Upgrade Guide
SolarWinds strongly recommends that you install the SolarWinds Platform on a server that is neither public, nor internet-facing. To learn about best practices for configuring your SolarWinds Platform installation securely, see Secure Configuration for the SolarWinds Platform.
This guide describes how to install Patch Manager in a supported Microsoft Windows Server environment. For upgrade instructions, see Upgrade Patch Manager in this guide.
Before you install Patch Manager, here's what you should know:
- To install Patch Manager on a dedicated Windows server, use the Patch Manager Installer to install the Patch Manager Administrator Console and supporting software on a dedicated server.
- To integrate Patch Manager with the SolarWinds Platform, use the SolarWinds Platform Installer to install the Patch Manager Web User Interface and supporting SolarWinds Platform services on the SolarWinds Platform server. Using this all-in-one installer, you can install or upgrade one or more SolarWinds Platform products in a single session.
- Patch Manager is not compatible with some Windows Server and SQL Server platforms. See the Release Notes for details.
