Uninstall DPA
You might need to uninstall and then reinstall DPA to resolve an issue or to move to a new server during a migration. To uninstall DPA from a self-managed server, see the following sections
Before you uninstall
Before you uninstall DPA, SolarWinds recommends the following preparation:
Back up the existing database |
To preserve your data, back up your DPA repository database. If you need help with backups, check your vendor's site for documentation and instructions. If your database is on a VM, create a snapshot or copy of your VM. |

Back up the DPA directory |
Create a copy of the DPA home directory. You could have customizations in this directory specific to your installation. |
Platform Connect users, uninstall the SolarWinds Observability Agent
If you have used Platform Connect and you want to uninstall DPA, you must first uninstall the SolarWinds Observability Agent:

Log in to DPA as an administrator.

From the DPA menu in the upper-right corner, click Options.

Under Administration > Configuration, click Platform Connect.

On the Manage Platform Connect Service page, click Uninstall Agent.
When the uninstallation is complete, you can uninstall DPA.
Uninstall DPA on a Windows server
To remove DPA from a Windows server, complete the following steps.
- Deactivate all monitored instance licenses.
- Stop the Ignite PI Server service.
- Uninstall DPA.
- From the Windows Control Panel, open Uninstall or change a program.
- Right-click SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer, and choose Uninstall.
- Click Yes at the confirmation prompt.

Delete the DPA home directory. The default home directory is:
C:\Program Files\SolarWinds\DPA\

Restart the server.
You can now reinstall DPA.
Uninstall DPA on a Linux server
- Deactivate all monitored instance licenses.
- Stop DPA by running the
shutdown.sh
command from the DPA directory. - Remove all cron jobs that start DPA.
- Delete the DPA home directory.

Restart the server.
You can now reinstall DPA.
