SolarWinds Service Desk January 2023 release notes

Updated January 31, 2023

These release notes describe the new features and improvements in SolarWinds Service Desk (SWSD). In addition, they provide information about upgrades and detailed workarounds for known issues.

If you are looking for earlier release notes for SWSD, see previous release notes.

New features

Released January 29

  • Added user impersonation for administrators. User impersonation allows administrators to access a user's account and operate as if they were logged in as that user, accessing any menus and modules the user has access to. The feature allows administrators to troubleshoot user issues and apply changes as the user. See User impersonation.

  • You can direct export fewer than 200 records. If you are exporting data to a CSV or XML file, you can download it directly from the index page (if it contains fewer than 200 records) instead of receiving an email that contains a link after the report has generated. See List view.

  • In field logic, you can multi-select fields with a single action rather than having to create individual actions for each individual field. This new feature is available when creating field logic for either custom forms or the Service Catalog. See Set up field logic.

  • Users can select their preferred language from the login page. On the login page, the default language is based on the organizational setting. Users can now select their language of choice before they log into their web-based instance of SolarWinds Service Desk. When they select a different language, SWSD saves that selection in their user profile. See Login for service agents and technicians and Service portal landing page.

Released January 8

  • You can map custom fields in Jira integration. You can now map SWSD custom fields through your Jira integration. See Jira integration.

  • SolarWinds moved Intune integration to the Discovery & assets Connections page. Intune integration is now performed through Setup > Discovery & Assets > Connections. Previously Intune integration was accessed via Setup > Integrations > Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune). See Intune configuration.

  • New automatic update for the state of an asset to change from Disposed to Operational when the asset reports in through the Discovery agent. If an asset previously in the Disposed state reports in through the Discovery agent, the state of the existing asset will automatically update to Operational instead of SWSD creating a new asset record. See Assets Management.

  • From the Computers index page, see how many monitors are connected to a computer. You can now add a column to the view of the Computers index page to see how many monitors are connected to a single computer. See Computers.

If you have any issues or bugs related to the released features, open tickets via the SolarWinds Portal or by emailing technicalsupport@solarwinds.com.
