WPM 2024.4 release notes

These release notes contain a description of features and functionality that SolarWinds intends to deliver in the next generally available release. However, SolarWinds reserves the right to remove, or otherwise elect not to deliver, such features and functionality from the final generally available release, and this is not a commitment of delivery.

New features and improvements in WPM

Page loading error that happen during playback in WPM are now captured on screenshots and presented in SolarWinds Platform Web Console. This improvement makes it faster to troubleshoot playback issues.

Web Performance Monitor 2024.4 includes the new features in version 2024.4 of the SolarWinds Platform. For more information, see the SolarWinds Platform 2024.4 Release Notes.

Fixes

WPM 2024.4 includes the fixes in version 2024.4 of the SolarWinds Platform.

When a user is moved from one Active Directory group to another, the WebUserPermission table is now updated to reflect the change. Users who have been granted the required permissions are not denied access to WPM recordings.

Installation or upgrade

For new SolarWinds Platform deployments, download the installation file from the WPM product page on https://www.solarwinds.com or from the Customer Portal. For more information, see Get the installer.

To activate WPM in an existing SolarWinds Platform deployment, use the License Manager.

For upgrades, go to Settings > My Deployment to initiate the upgrade. The SolarWinds Installer upgrades your entire deployment (all SolarWinds Platform products and any scalability engines).

Known issues

Transaction playback fails for unknown reasons related to ChromeDriver crash

In rare cases, ChromeDriver crashes and causes a transaction playback failure.

Resolution or workaround: This will be fixed in a future release.

Image Match may sometimes fail on WPM Players deployed on Windows 10 machines

Resolution divergence on a Windows 10 machine can sometimes cause an Image Match failure in WPM Player.

End of life

July 4, 2025: End-of-Life (EoL) – SolarWinds will no longer provide technical support for WPM 2022.4.

March 7, 2024: End-of-Engineering (EoE) – Service releases, bug fixes, workarounds, and service packs for WPM 2022.3 will no longer be actively supported by SolarWinds. March 7, 2025: End-of-Life (EoL) – SolarWinds will no longer provide technical support for WPM 2022.3.

Deprecation notice

The following platforms and features are still supported in the current release. However, they will be unsupported in a future release. Plan on upgrading deprecated platforms, and avoid using deprecated features.

Type Details
WPM Deprecated Recorder Upcoming releases will not support editing recordings or playing transactions that originate in the Deprecated WPM Recorder. WPM now offers a Recordings Migration Tool, so you can migrate your WPM recordings and discontinue using the Deprecated WPM Recorder.
