SolarWinds Service Desk March 2024 release notes

Release date: March 17, 2024

These release notes describe the new features and improvements in SolarWinds Service Desk (SWSD). In addition, they provide information about upgrades and detailed workarounds for known issues.

If you are looking for earlier release notes for SWSD, see previous release notes.

New features

  • Update to Power BI Connector. The SolarWinds Service Desk connector has been updated. It is now fully backwards compatible with existing models and reports. It also has new capabilities, with many new fields available.

    • Incremental Refresh lets you perform more than one refresh per day and saves download time after the initial download is performed.

After your first and largest download is performed, you can create a report and publish it. You can then schedule data refreshes in Power BI Service to be executed later. Later downloads take less time.

    • ITSM assets import to PowerBI. You can now import hardware, software, and other ITSM assets. The new connector no longer limits imports only to incidents.

See Power BI Connector for more information.

Improvements

  • Display a summary of user's roles. Users whose organization uses ESM might have multiple roles for multiple service providers. You can display all of a user's roles from the Organization's Users index table by drilling down to the user's details page. See Display a summary of a user's different roles.

  • Customizable reporting for computer assets. You can now add attributes to filter, group by, and stack by in computer reports. Using these new customization options you will have better reporting and perspective on your platform, allowing you to improve the way you work.

Options for the Computers Over Time and Computer Volume Breakdown report include:

    • Filter by: Status, Has attached incidents, Owner, Last Update time (detected by scanner), Scan Origin, Updated at, and Time Frames (Last Quarter and Last Year)

    • Stack by: Model, Status, Last Update, and Warranty status

Additional option for the Computer Volume Breakdown report:

    • Group by: Agent version, Model, and Status

See Reports - Computer reports: Filter/Group by/Stack by.

If you have any issues or bugs related to the released features, open tickets via the SolarWinds Portal or by emailing technicalsupport@solarwinds.com.
