New features and improvements in SRM
For information about new features and fixes in the SolarWinds Platform, see the SolarWinds Platform 2023.4 Release Notes.
Users can change the NetApp device polling method in SRM and keep historical data
If you use SRM to monitor NetApp storage arrays, you can now switch to direct polling or external polling using REST API. SRM enables you to migrate from ONTAPI/ZAPI API to REST API, and in the process, also migrates your historical data.
Fixes

Third-party CVE
SolarWinds would like to thank our Security Researchers below for reporting on the issue in a responsible manner and working with our security, product, and engineering teams to fix the vulnerability.
CVE-ID | Vulnerability Title | Description | Severity |
---|---|---|---|
CVE-2022-2097 | AES OCB fails to encrypt some bytes | AES OCB mode for 32-bit x86 platforms using the AES-NI assembly optimized implementation will not encrypt the entirety of the data under some circumstances. This could reveal sixteen bytes of data that was pre-existing in the memory that wasn't written. In the special case of "in place" encryption, sixteen bytes of the plaintext would be revealed. Since OpenSSL does not support OCB-based cipher suites for TLS and DTLS, they are both unaffected. Fixed in OpenSSL 3.0.5 (affected 3.0.0-3.0.4). Fixed in OpenSSL 1.1.1q (affected 1.1.1-1.1.1p). | N/A |
Before you upgrade (for SRM Profiler/STM users only)
The SRM Profiler (also known as STM) reached EOL on January 1, 2022, and therefore integration between SRM and SRM Profiler is no longer supported. If you still have SRM Profiler integrated with SRM, you will need to disable integration before updating. Because the SRM license is held on the SRM Profiler, you will then need to deactivate the license and apply it to SRM.
If you try to upgrade while SRM Profiler integration is still active, the installation is halted, and a warning message is displayed.
Step 1 - Disable SRM Profiler
-
Navigate to Settings > All Settings > SRM Settings > Manage SRM Profiler Module Integration.
-
Click Disable Integration.
Step 2 - Deactivate the License from the SRM Profiler
-
Access the STM console (http://<ip address>:9000) using administration login credentials.
-
Go to Settings > License Manager, then click Deactivate.
You will receive a pop-up window that the license has been deactivated.
Step 3 - Apply the License to SRM
-
Navigate to Settings > All Settings.
-
In the Details section, click License Manager.
-
Find SRM in the list of products and click Activate.
-
Enter the license details for SRM from your customer portal.
Step 4 - Uninstall the SRM Profiler
Installation or upgrade
For new installations, you can download the installation file from the product page on https://www.solarwinds.com or from the Customer Portal.
For upgrades, go to Settings > My Deployment to initiate the upgrade. The SolarWinds Installer upgrades your entire deployment (all SolarWinds Platform products and any scalability engines).
For more information, see the SolarWinds Platform Product Installation and Upgrade Guide.
