New features and improvements in SQL Sentry

SQL Sentry Portal Running Queries

Review real-time running queries on the Top SQL tab in SQL Sentry Portal. Get live visibility into actively executing queries on SQL Server instances with over 27 metrics, blocked session detection, execution plan analysis, and historical performance tracking. See Portal Top SQL.

vCenter Server 8 support

SQL Sentry 2026.2 supports vCenter Server 8.

Plan Explorer SSMS 22 support

Plan Explorer 2026.2 supports SSMS 22. See the Plan Explorer Installation Overview for installation instructions.

AG Replica data loss collection in SQL Sentry Portal

SQL Sentry Portal 2026.2 gives you visibility into SQL Server Availability Group replica data loss at the database, instance, and Availability Group levels. Add custom charts with the new metrics AG Replica data loss metrics.

General improvements

  • Hide AI Query Assist at the Global, group, target, or site levels with the Top SQL Source settings. Click the Settings pane at the desired level, and go to Top SQL Source. Set AI Query Assist Enabled to false to hide AI Query assist.
  • Give feedback on AI Query Assist recommendations. Rate optimized query recommendations with a thumbs up or thumbs down, and provide any additional feedback in the optional comments section.

SQLS-519 You can register SQL Server on Linux targets with non-default ports as expected.

Known issues

SQL Sentry EPI Installer 2026.2

The SQL Sentry EPI Installer will be unavailable for 2026.2. The EPI upgrade package for 2026.2 will still be available.

Resolution or workaround: An updated EPI Installer will be provided in a future release.

End of life

2023.4 November 18, 2025: End-of-Life (EoL) announcement – Customers on SQL Sentry version 2023.4 or earlier should begin transitioning to the latest version of SQL Sentry. February 18, 2026: End-of-Engineering (EoE) – Service releases, bug fixes, workarounds, and service packs for SQL Sentry version 2023.4 or earlier will no longer actively be supported by SolarWinds. February 18, 2027: End-of-Life (EoL) – SolarWinds will no longer provide technical support for SQL Sentry version 2023.4.

This version of SQL Sentry no longer supports the following platforms and features.

Alert URLS

Alert URLS that redirect to the SQL Sentry Client will be removed in version 2026.2.
