Introduction

Premier features are those available to SolarWinds Service Desk (SWSD) customers with the Premier plan.

The default setting is On, but account owners have the option to turn off or on the visibility of premier feature.

Enable or disable Premier features visibility

When enabled, administrators can see in navigation menus all features available only to Premier customers. A closed lock displays next to features in the menu when they are available only to Premier customers.

For example, navigation to Service Desk > Runbooks is not possible if visibility of Premier Features is disabled. However, by enabling visibility of Premier features, navigation to those features is available. In addition, administrators can click the locked navigation menu to recommend to an account owner that a premier trial be activated.

Account owners can activate a trial to explore Premier features and learn how they work. SolarWinds strongly recommends that you explore Premier features before starting your 14-day free trial or upgrading your plan. Search SWSD documentation to learn more about each feature.

Administrators can ask account owners to activate a trial or disable/enable the Premier Feature Visibility setting.

Disable/enable:

If you are an account owner, you can:

  1. Navigate to Service Desk Settings as described above.

  2. Scroll down to Premier Features Visibility.

  3. Switch the toggle to Off or On, as needed.

Behavior of visibility

When the Premier Features Visibility toggle is set to On, Advanced plan administrators can see Premier plan features in navigation menus.

Visibility of the Premier features allows administrators to see what upgrade options are available for your organization. Account owners have two options:

  • Activate Premier Trial. When you activate a trial, you can end it at any time. If you do not end it early, the trial ends automatically after 14 days. All trial-period configuration and data is retained.

  • Request Upgrade. When you request an upgrade, a SolarWinds representative contacts you. Customers who upgrade after a trial period still have access to the premier feature data processed during the trial period.

Trial period visibility

Account owners and administrators can see the dates of the Premier trial period in three locations:

  • On the Account summary page.

  • In a banner at the top of the application shows the number of remaining days available in the trial. From the banner the account owner can request a quote, request help, and end the trial.

  • Next to Premier features in the navigation menu if Premier Features Visibility is enabled.
