Manage Application Monitor templates page

The Manage Application Monitor Templates page provides options for creating and managing your application monitor templates and assigned application monitors. To access the page, click Settings > All Settings > SAM Settings > Manage Templates.

The page includes the following options. For more information, see Use SAM application monitor templates and application monitors.

Create New Template

Begins the creation of a new application monitor template.

Assign to Group

Assign and unassign templates to groups. Note: AppInsight templates cannot be assigned to groups.

Assign to Node

Assign selected templates to monitored nodes.

Application Discovery

Open the Application Discovery page, where you can select nodes to scan for the applications you want to monitor.

Edit

Allows you to edit the selected template.

Tags

Allows you to edit the tags (descriptive labels) for the selected template.

Copy

Allows you to copy the selected templates.

Import/Export

Allows you to import templates created in other instances of SAM or by contributors to the SolarWinds online IT community, THWACK.

SolarWinds recommends checking THWACK periodically for updates to SAM application monitor templates. With the exception of AppInsight templates, those templates are not updated automatically during upgrades to avoid overwriting custom changes. Export to THWACK

Allows you to export selected templates to THWACK.

Export as File

Allows you to export selected templates to files for use in other instances of SAM.

Assign Details View

Allows you to specify whether each application details view uses the generic application details view or a custom details view.

Delete

Allows you to delete selected templates.
