Documentation forServer & Application Monitor
Monitoring your applications and environment is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability and is also available in a standalone module, Server & Application Monitor (SAM). Hybrid Cloud Observability and SAM are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

Domain Controller Details

If this widget does not appear on the Application Details page, check settings in the application monitor for the domain controller. This widget is hidden when the Enable Domain Components option is disabled.

This widget appears on the AppInsight for Active Directory Application Details view to show domain controllers detected in the domain. The widget uses various UI elements to indicate which nodes are already being monitored by AppInsight for Active Directory:

  • If AppInsight for Active Directory was already assigned to a domain controller, the node name appears in bold and includes a status icon.
  • If AppInsight for Active Directory was not assigned to a domain controller node, a "Learn how to monitor this node" link appears beneath the node name that you can click to display instructions.

It's possible that a node is already being monitored as a standard node in SAM or NPM, but you have to assign AppInsight for Active Directory to the node to gather Active Directory-related data during polling.

You can find domain controllers by status, Flexible Single Master Operation (FSMO) role, name, or site in this widget.

The first row of this widget shows counts of domain controllers by status. A icon indicates the number of domain controllers that are not yet being monitored by AppInsight for Active Directory.

The second row displays a count of domain controllers based on the following FSMO roles:

  • SM: Schema Master
  • DN: Domain Naming Master
  • RID: Relative Identifier (RID) Master
  • IM: Infrastructure Master
  • PDC: Primary Domain Controller (PDC) Emulator

Statuses and FSMO roles are only available for filtering if a domain controller in your environment is in that state. For example, if no domain controllers have a status of Critical, that status is not available when filtering.
