Active alert limit
An alert definition can have up to 1000 active alerts at a time. A standard notification is sent once for the first active alert that exceeds the limit, but no further notifications are sent. When the limit is exceeded, a warning is displayed and no more alerts are created until the alert definition returns within the limit.
Troubleshooting
There are several actions you can take to keep the number of active alerts below the limit:

Edit the alert definition to reduce its scope.

Verify if the alert condition is set up correctly. Raising the threshold values can reduce the number of active alerts. See Create an alert definition for more information.

Resolve the issues that are causing the existing alerts to be active.

Manually clear an active alert.
Manually clearing the alert is a temporary solution and does not solve the underlying cause of the alert.
