Azure network monitoring changes in 2026.4

Version 2026.4 updates the polling infrastructure for Azure virtual networks, virtual network gateways, and site-to-site connections. Monitoring views, PerfStack integration, and historical data remain unchanged.

Update custom content after upgrading

Review custom alerts, reports, widgets, and integrations that reference the following removed SWIS entities. Update them to use the listed replacements.

Removed SWIS entity Replacement
Cortex.Orion.NetMan.CloudMonitoring.CloudAccount Orion.Cloud.Accounts
Cortex.Orion.NetMan.CloudMonitoring.AzureMonitoringCredential Orion.Cloud.Accounts
Cortex.Orion.NetMan.CloudMonitoring.CloudMonitoringCentralizedSettings Shared CloudMonitoring.Azure centralized settings

If custom content uses direct SQL queries, update references to the following database table prefixes.

Removed table prefix New table prefix
Ctx_C_Orion_NetMan_CloudMonitoring_VirtualNetwork* Cloud_Azure_VirtualNetwork*
Ctx_C_Orion_NetMan_CloudMonitoring_VirtualNetworkGateway* Cloud_Azure_VirtualNetworkGateway*
Ctx_C_Orion_NetMan_CloudMonitoring_VirtualNetworkConnection* Cloud_Azure_VirtualNetworkConnection*

Use SWIS queries instead of direct SQL queries where possible. SWIS entity names for monitored networks, gateways, and connections remain unchanged.

Review polling settings

  • Discovery and metrics polling use a unified interval of 5 minutes. Configure the interval in the Add Cloud Account or Edit Cloud Account wizard. SEe Add a cloud account to the SolarWinds Platform.
  • If you use a custom Azure management endpoint, such as Azure Government or Azure China, configure CloudMonitoring.Azure.ApiUrl. It replaces NetMan.CloudMonitoring.Azure.AzureManagementServiceAddress. See Advanced settings.
  • The per-feature DiscoveryPollingInterval and LongestStatisticalPollingTimespan settings are removed.

Review the replacement polling alert

The upgrade removes the Azure cloud account polling failed alert. The replacement alert, Azure virtual networks polling overdue, has Warning severity instead of Critical.

The new alert triggers when polling data for a virtual network, gateway, or connection is overdue by twice the polling interval. It resets automatically when polling resumes.

API usage reporting limitation

The API request counter in the Edit Cloud Account wizard and the Exceeded Azure Cloud Monitor API free polling limit alert exclude requests from the updated Azure network pollers.

Actual Azure Monitor API usage can be higher than reported.
