Install SolarWinds Platform products using Azure Marketplace in Microsoft Azure or Microsoft Azure Government
This topic applies to all SolarWinds Platform products.
SolarWinds was the victim of a cyberattack to our systems that inserted a vulnerability (SUNBURST) within three of our Orion® Platform software builds. The software versions currently available on the Azure Marketplace represent the latest versions that include the recent security updates. More information is available at www.solarwinds.com/securityadvisory and www.solarwinds.com/securityadvisory/faq.
You can deploy SolarWinds Platform products using the Azure Marketplace in Microsoft Azure or Microsoft Azure Government.
SolarWinds Platform license
On Azure Marketplace, SolarWinds Platform products are now available with 30-day evaluation period.
Evaluating SolarWinds Platform products is free of charge. However, please note that an instance of SolarWinds Platform product(s) is deployed to your Azure environment that is running in your end-user subscription, and is subject to a charge payable to Microsoft. You can check the Infrastructure-as-a-Service rates in Azure Marketplace.
You can upgrade the SolarWinds evaluation to a commercial license at any time. See Activate licenses for SolarWinds Platform products for details or email sales@solarwinds.com to obtain a license.

- In Subnets, specify the subnet to deploy the Orion Azure VM.
Use the default /24 mask (256 addresses) or more. To create a larger subnet, create a new custom virtual network using Create New in the Virtual Network drop-down. The virtual network address space should be large enough to accommodate the new subnet.
The minimum subnet size is /24 (256 addresses). When you create a smaller subnet, such as /28 (16 addresses), you won't be able to choose it in the subnet drop-down.
- In Public IP Address, you can specify a static or dynamic publicly routable IP address for accessing the Orion deployment.
If you don't want to use a public IP address, select None. - In DNS Prefix..., specify the host name or short name of the server.

Database Settings: Select the installation type and define the user -
In Installation Type, select whether to use Azure SQL DB or Microsoft SQL as the database server type. If you select Azure SQL DB, the default Standard S3 tier is used. You can change it at any time.

-
If you selected Azure SQL DB, create a new administrator for the SolarWinds Platform database.
-
If you selected Microsoft SQL, provide the DB server name (FQDN), the database name, and the database administrator credentials.
