Power Control Unit Status

This topic applies to all SolarWinds Platform products.

On the Node Details view for your Power Control Unit (UPS) nodes, you can see the Power Control Unit Status widget with details about your power control unit status, such as UPS and battery status, name, battery pack count, battery capacity, battery temperature, or time on battery.

Time On Battery displays the elapsed time since the UPS has switched to battery power.

Review the Replace Indicator record to find out whether you should plan on replacing the battery.

Change the battery temperature unit

You can customize the unit for displaying the battery temperature for each user. To do so, you need Administrator rights.

  1. Click Settings > All Settings > Manage Accounts.
  2. Select a user and click Edit.
  3. Scroll down to Power Control Unit Settings, and select the unit to use for battery temperature.

  4. Click Submit.

The user now sees the power control unit temperature in the selected unit.

Events

SolarWinds Platform products generate an event to inform you about the following UPS issues:

  • The battery status on the UPS is low.
  • The UPS is running on battery.
  • The battery needs replacing.
  • What caused the battery to fail.

Alerts and reports

You can use polled UPS statistics, such as model, name, time on battery, fail cause, or output load in alerts and reports.

When creating an alert based on node objects, click Browse fields to find the Battery statistics to alert on.

You can use the UPS variables for alert actions. Review the UPS category for node.

To build reports, select UPS in Orion Object.

You can use the following fields as columns in the report output:

Troubleshooting

If you cannot see the widget, ensure that the UPS poller for the node is enabled:
