SQL Managed Instance metrics

Azure SQL Managed Instance is a fully managed relational database service that provides near-full SQL Server compatibility with built-in high availability, scalability, and security. It delivers reliable, enterprise-grade database performance while offloading routine management tasks such as patching, backups, and maintenance. Use the Azure Resource Manager to gather metrics for this resource, then ensure your cloud platform is configured in SolarWinds Observability SaaS to collect this resource type's data. Depending on the subscription pricing tier of your Azure account or its resources, additional metrics may be available for this entity. To collect additional Azure metrics, select the premium pricing tier when configuring your Azure namespaces.

Many of the collected metrics from Azure SQL Managed Instance entities are displayed as widgets in SolarWinds Observability explorers; additional metrics may be collected and available in the Metrics Explorer. You can also create an alert for when an entity's metric value moves out of a specific range. The following table lists some of the metrics collected for these entities. To see the Azure SQL Managed Instance metrics in the Metrics Explorer, type Microsoft.Sql.managedInstances in the search box.

Metric	Units	Description
sw.metrics.healthscore	Percent (%)	Health state. The health state provides real-time insight into the overall health and performance of your monitored entities. The health state is determined based on anomalies detected for the entity, alerts triggered for the entity's metrics, and the status of the entity. The health state is displayed as one of the following four states and colors: Good, Moderate, Bad, or Unknown. You can determine the impact of the alerts, anomalies, and statuses on the health of an entity type by going to Settings > Health, and selecting a specific entity type. You can also customize the impact. To view the health of Azure SQL Managed Instance entities in the Metrics Explorer, filter the sw.metrics.healthscore metric by entity_types and select azuresqlmanagedinstance.
Microsoft.Sql.managedInstances.AverageCpuPercentage	Percent (%)	The average CPU utilization of the Azure SQL Managed Instance.
Microsoft.Sql.managedInstances.IoRequests	Count	The number of I/O requests processed by the managed instance.
Microsoft.Sql.managedInstances.IoBytesRead	bytes	The total number of bytes read from storage by the managed instance.
Microsoft.Sql.managedInstances.IoBytesWritten	bytes	The total number of bytes written to storage by the managed instance.
Microsoft.Sql.managedInstances.StorageSpaceUsed	Megabytes (MB)	The amount of storage space currently used by the managed instance.
Microsoft.Sql.managedInstances.StorageSpaceReserved	Megabytes (MB)	The amount of storage space reserved for the managed instance.
Microsoft.Sql.managedInstances.VirtualCoreCount	Count	The number of virtual cores allocated to the managed instance.
