Azure credentials in Network Topology Mapper
To discover devices in your Azure environment and display them on Network Topology Mapper (NTM) maps, you need to provide Azure credentials.
NTM supports the following Azure resources:
- Resource groups
- Virtual Networks (VNets)
- Subnets
- Virtual machines
- Network interfaces
- Public IP addresses
- Load balancers
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters
NTM stores Azure credentials in Windows Credential Manager with the prefix Azure_.
Authentication method
NTM authenticates to Azure as a service principal with a client secret, using OAuth 2.0 token-based authentication. The service principal must have at least the Reader role on the subscription.
To authenticate, provide the following values from your Azure account:
- Subscription ID
- Tenant ID
- Client ID
- Client Secret
You also need to specify your region.
For details on where to find these values, see the following topics in the Microsoft Azure documentation:
- Get subscription and tenant IDs in the Azure portal
- Create a Microsoft Entra app and service principal in the portal
For details on where to define Azure credentials in NTM, see Azure credentials in Specify discovery credentials.
