Monitor Aruba switch stacks
Monitor the health of individual Aruba switch stack members, track data connections between them, and quickly identify switches with issues.
Aruba switch stacks do not support power management.
Out-of-the-box events and alerts notify you when a member, or a connection between members goes down.
Add the switch stack for monitoring as a node. The IP address is always assigned to the master switch (highlighted with a crown icon).
Requirements
-
The switch stack must be added as a monitored node.
-
The Aruba Switch Stack CPU & Memory Poller must be enabled.
If this poller is not enabled, the Switch Stack Members widget appears without RAM and CPU data.
To verify, go to the node details view and click List Resources in the Management widget. If the poller is not enabled, select the Enable Aruba Switch Stack CPU & Memory Poller box and save your settings.
View stack members and rings
When alerted about a switch stack issue, go to the switch stack node details page, and click the switch stack subview.
The subview provides member-specific monitoring with topology maps showing how the data ports are connected, and information to pinpoint switches with issues.
You can quickly see which switch is having issues, locate it by serial number in the stack, and replace it or resolve the issue.
View the health of stack members
When you are monitoring hardware health on a switch stack node, you can see the health of individual switches in the stack.
-
Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console, and go to the switch stack node details page, and click the Network subview.
-
Consult the Current Hardware Health resource.
You can now troubleshoot the switch stack member that is experiencing issues.
See also Monitor hardware health.
