Documentation forNetwork Performance Monitor
Monitoring network performance is a key capability of SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted (formerly Hybrid Cloud Observability) and is available in the Essentials edition. Network Performance Monitor (NPM) is also available in a standalone module.

Network Topology

The NPM Network Topology widget provides a visual representation of existing physical connections between monitored devices on your network.

For any two, directly connected nodes, NodeA and NodeB, the resource shows you how they are connected, as follows:

NODE

INTERFACE

CONNECTS TO

INTERFACE

ON

NODE

NodeA

>

An interface (IfA) on NodeA

><

An interface (IfB) on NodeB

<

NodeB

In this example, directly connected interfaces IfA and IfB are on nodes NodeA and NodeB, respectively.

All discovered, physical connections between monitored nodes are listed in this resource. Click Prev X and Next X to page through the list of discovered connections. The value of X is 5, by default, and it is designated in the Maximum number of items to display field, described below. Click Show all to see a list of all discovered connections at once.
