Managing network configurations is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and is also available in a standalone module, Network Configuration Manager (NCM). Hybrid Cloud Observability Advanced and NCM are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

Search settings

You can use the NCM advanced search to search config files and node properties. If you need to disable the search capability or adjust the settings, complete the following steps to access search settings:

  1. Click Settings > All Settings in the menu bar.

  2. Under Product Specific Settings, click NCM Settings.
  3. Under Advanced, click Search Settings.

    This page contains settings (described below), and it shows the indexing status and number of configs in the catalog.

  4. If you change any settings, click Submit to apply your changes.

The following settings are available:

Enable Search

Search is enabled by default.

If you disable search and then enable it again, NCM must index all configs accumulated in the database during the time when it was disabled. NCM must finish indexing before search works correctly.

Disable Search

To support full-text searches of device configs, NCM indexes all configs in the database. Depending on how quickly your database grows, the config indexing can affect performance. If you do not use the NCM Search feature, or seldom use it, consider disabling it to reduce potential performance impact.

Enter a path for the index catalog on main NCM server If you change the default path and click Apply, NCM must re-index all configs.
Scan for changes every The interval between NCM scans for changes to config files.
Delay refresh on each new config change by This setting can be increased if you experience performance issues. SolarWinds recommends working with Support if you adjust this setting.
