Documentation forIP Address Manager
Managing IP addresses is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability and is also available in a standalone module, IP Address Manager (IPAM). Hybrid Cloud Observability and IPAM are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

Add Subnet

This page allows you to edit the subnet name, subnet address, CIDR, description, VLAN ID, and Location.

You can add or create custom properties for supernets.

Automatic scanning

Automatic scanning is enabled by default, but you can turn this off for this subnet by checking the Disable Automatic scanning. If you want automatic scanning to update but not erase manually entered data for this subnet check the Update but not erase checkbox.

You can change the scan interval from the default of every four hours if required.

Neighbor scanning

Neighbor scanning attempts to retrieve the status of an unresponsive device from the ARP table of a neighbor router to determine what IP addresses are active.

Because of the additional load this creates, it is disabled by default.

Transient Period

The transient period is the length of time a IP address marked as Used can fail to respond to scanning before it is marked as available.

You can use the global setting which is set in Subnet Scan Settings. It can also be set to a number of days specifically for IP addresses in a particular subnet. If set to Unlimited duration, IP addresses have to be manually set to available before they can be used again.
