Manage SNMP credentials

You can define the SNMP credentials associated with your user account. These credentials are specific for use in Engineer's Toolset for the Web tools and do not affect any other credentials used in the SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted.

These SNMP credentials are used when you define devices to be monitored that are not already available in the SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted. See Add non-Platform devices to monitor with ETS for the Web.

If you do not define any credentials on the Toolset Credential Management page, the existing SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted credentials are used.

  1. Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console as an administrator.

  2. Click Settings > All Settings. Then, under Product Specific Settings, click Toolset Settings.

  3. Under SNMP Credentials, click Manage Toolset Credentials.

  4. To add new credentials:

    1. Click New.

    2. Select the credential enter and define a name for credentials in the field.

    3. Enter the community string.

By default, the characters you enter are hidden. To toggle the display of characters, click the eye icon.

    4. Test the community string: Fill in a host name or IP address of a device that uses the new community string and click Test Credentials. The test device details are not stored with the new set of credentials.

    5. Click Save Changes.

  5. To create new credentials based on an existing credentials set:

    1. In the list of credentials, select the credentials you want to copy.

    2. Click Copy.

    3. Select the CopyOfCredential set and edit the details (type, name, and community string).
    4. Click Save Changes.
  6. To delete credentials:

    1. Select the set of credentials that you want to delete.

    2. Click Delete.

    3. Click OK at the confirmation prompt.

  7. To return to the Toolset Settings page, click Toolset Settings in the breadcrumbs at the top of the page.
