macOS Agent release notes

These release notes describe the new features, improvements, and fixed issues in the Dameware Remote Everywhere macOS Agent.

The macOS Agent can be accessed via download from the Admin Area. The Admin Area can be accessed via web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, etc. Mobile components can be downloaded from either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Support for Agent configuration templates

You can now create and deploy macOS Agent configurations into device groups in DRE. In the Admin Area, you can create Agent configuration templates in the Management > Agent Templates. Select Devices > Group and click Add Group to view the dropdown and select the configuration template.

You can also prevent changes to the Agent permissions for device groups that contain Configuration Templates.

Agent settings in the Admin Area

View settings configured by local macOS Agents on end users' devices by navigating to Devices in the Admin Area. You can check the device you want to view, click on the Agent Settings tab, and review or verify Agent information for each device.

Multifactor authentication for end users

End users with the macOS Agent installed now have the ability to enable multifactor authentication on their devices before Technicians can log in. See Enable multifactor authentication for end users for details.

Extended monitoring for macOS devices

Dameware Remote Everywhere has extended capability for monitoring information related to devices running the macOS Agent. Technicians can now view additional information in the Group, Device, System, Applications, Processes, Network, Daemon, Drivers, and Stats tabs in the bottom pane of the Devices tab in the Admin Area.

New out-of-session chat functionality

Dameware Remote Everywhere now allows Technicians to initiate a chat with active end users without an active remote control session. Technicians can initiate the chat from the Devices pane in the Admin Area by selecting the end user's device. The out-of-session chat additionally supports special characters and preset emoticons.

Ability to send the public IP address of remote devices

The macOS agent can now send the public IP address of the device it was installed on to aid in the troubleshooting process. Previously, the private IP address was the only IP address available, but the addition of the public IP address helps Technicians troubleshoot network and connectivity issues more precisely.

Description
After an end user logs out, the session no longer disconnects or produces a black screen.
Dameware Remote Everywhere is now able to detect USB-C monitors in M1/M2 devices.

Fixed issues

Description
The end user's remote device image no longer disappears after restarting.
The issue when Dameware Remote Everywhere can't remotely wake up some macOS machines has been resolved.
Technicians using macOS are no longer repeatedly kicked back to the login screen.

XPC Encryption

The Agent now communicates with the other components by utilizing the native Apple XPC encryption. This unifies all component communication into a single class and provides encryption for added security and protection against snooping attacks.

Fixed issues

Description
M1 macOS devices now operate and process efficiently during sessions.
During prolonged sessions, the end user and/or Technician's screen image no longer freezes.
Connections are no longer delayed or interrupted when the client uses Master Pass authentication protocol.
The issue where transferred files do not display in the queue has been resolved.
End users can now elevate or uninstall agents after upgrading to 6.00.26.

Redesign of the Agent

The UI has been redesigned and now displays new information, such as the date of the last session, number of sessions, and status of remote assistance. This change is available in both the standalone Agent, as well as Agents integrated with N-Central and RMM.

Updated security permissions dialogue

The System Access Permissions dialogue has been reformatted to make the security and access permissions clearer. A new "Learn More" option has been added that links users to knowledge articles for more information.This change is available in both the standalone Agent, as well as Agents integrated with N-Central and RMM.
