DPA 2026.1 release notes

Release date: March 10, 2026

Here's what's new in DPA 2026.1. You can find the applicable system requirements here.

To view release notes, system requirements, and product guide PDFs for supported versions of DPA, see DPA previous versions. To view release notes for multiple versions and multiple SolarWinds Platform products on a single page, see the release notes aggregator.

Attention DPA customers

If your DPA server is currently configured to send emails using Microsoft Exchange Online, be aware that Microsoft Exchange Online has deprecated basic authentication (logging in with a user name and password). OAuth 2.0 authentication will be required. To update the DPA mail server configuration to support OAuth 2.0 authentication, see Configure the mail server used to send DPA emails.

If you use Microsoft Exchange Online and do not update the DPA email configuration, DPA alert and report emails will fail when support for basic authentication ends.

New features and improvements in DPA

Database Discovery feature

The Database Discovery feature scans your network to find instances that are not currently registered for monitoring. Use Database Discovery to ensure that all high-value database instances are monitored, and to streamline the process of registering new instances. From the Database Discovery results, you can start registering an instance with a single click. The appropriate fields in the registration wizard are automatically populated with data discovered during the scan.

For more information, see Discover database instances for monitoring.

Expanded support

Windows Server 2025 is now supported as the DPA server operating system.

Fixed customer issues

Case number Description
N/A Index recommendations for queries running on MySQL database instances have been improved.
02067247, 02083772

The DPA Central management page no longer fails with the following error:

Index 1 out of bounds for length 1

01752363, 01789526, 01805830, 01816443, 01864914, 01896220, 01953963, 01997654, 02000231, 02032129, 02023890

When DPA is monitoring MySQL or PostgreSQL database instances, plan poll data is no longer truncated due to large plans with complex or wide queries. This issue caused monitoring to fail with error messages such as:

Failed in job [PlanPollJob] due to [String or binary data would be truncated.

Data too long for column 'POSSIBLE_KEYS' at row 6].

01992324, 02020696

When DPA is monitoring a PostgreSQL database instance, attempting to access a table in a custom schema no longer results in errors such as the following:

dpa_user@risk_engine:[1157]:ERROR: relation "<name>" does not exist at character 942

dpa_user@risk_engine:[1157]:STATEMENT: PREPARE dpaprepare(unknown) as select...

N/A When an alert definition includes a rule that filters database instances, the alert is no longer triggered during every evaluation cycle.
02048923, 02075087

To resolve an issue that caused DPA to be inaccessible and left errors such as the following in the logs, the stack size was increased.

Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'iwcContext' defined in class path resource [spring/pi-root-context.xml]: Failed to instantiate [org.springframework.context.support.ClassPathXmlApplicationContext]: Constructor threw exception

Installation or upgrade

For new installations, you can download the installer from the SolarWinds website or from the Customer Portal. For more information, see the DPA Installation and Upgrade Guide.

For upgrades, use the DPA Installation and Upgrade Guide to help you plan and execute your upgrade. When you are ready, download the upgrade package from the SolarWinds Customer Portal.

Known issues

Database Discovery does not add brackets for IPv6 addresses

The registration wizard requires that IPv6 addresses be enclosed in square brackets [ ]. Database Discovery automatically enters IP addresses into the registration wizard, but it does not enclose the address in brackets.

Resolution or workaround: Manually add square brackets around IPv6 addresses.
