Patch Manager 2022.2 release notes

New features and improvements in Patch Manager 2022.2
Patch Manager 2022.2 offers new features and improvements compared to previous Patch Manager releases.
Secure third-party downloads using HSTS
HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) is a web policy that forces a secure HTTPS connection with Transport Layer Security (TLS). This release implements HSTS, which creates a secure connection between the third-party downloads website located at 3pupcontent.solarwinds.com and the Patch Manager Web Console.
HSTS is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards track protocol and is specified in RFC 6797.
WSUS is no longer included in the Patch Manager installer
Beginning with this release, Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) is no longer included with the Patch Manager installer.
Follow the instructions in the Patch Manager Installation and Upgrade Guide to install Patch Manager on the host server. If WSUS is installed and enabled on the host server or a separate server, no additional configuration is required. If you are installing Patch Manager for the first time, enable WSUS on a server in your deployment. Enabling WSUS on a server is not required during the installation procedure.
See your Windows Server operating system documentation or the Microsoft documentation site for instructions on how to install and configure WSUS. See the Patch Manager System Requirements for a list of supported WSUS versions.
SQL Server is no longer included in the Patch Manager installer
Beginning with this release, SQL Server Express is no longer included with the Patch Manager installer. To implement this database in your evaluation or production environment, download and install a supported SQL Server Express version from the SQL Server Express website. When you are finished, follow the instructions in the Patch Manager Installation and Upgrade Guide to install Patch Manager on the host server.

Other improvements
This release includes additional updates that improve the product stability and functionality.

Before you upgrade!
If you are upgrading from a previous version, do the following:

Make sure your server complies with the Patch Manager 2022.2 system requirements.

Back up any custom code, such as changed SolarWinds .css files or added .js files. These files may be overwritten with the upgrade. Learn more.
How to upgrade
If you are upgrading the Patch Manager application, use the Patch Manager Installer. See the Patch Manager Installation and Upgrade Guide for instructions. This guide includes detailed information to help you plan, complete, and troubleshoot your upgrade.
If you are upgrading the Patch Manager Web Console on the SolarWinds Platform server to version 2022.2, use the SolarWinds Platform Installer. Using this installer, you can upgrade the Patch Manager Web Console and your SolarWinds Platform products in one session.
