Link action types to scheduled alerts

When a monitor detects a problem with a device, service, or process, it indicates the problem in the Dashboard. If the monitored resource is mission critical to your daily operations, you can create an alert and associate the alert with one or more actions that automatically run when the alert occurs. For example, you can add an action to the alert that sends a customized email message to a list of recipients or restart a service or list of services on a targeted Microsoft Windows workstation.

After you create an action, you can schedule the action to occur within a specific time range for each day of the week—for example, every weekday between 8AM and 5PM.

When you create an alert, you can use the Alert Wizard to walk you through the process of creating a simple email alert.

The following table lists the actions you can associate to an alert.

Automatic Report Email Emails a Recent Activity report to a selected user or group of users.
Customized Email Sends a fully-configured email message to a list of recipients.
