VNQM Credentials Manager

The VoIP and Network Quality Manager (VNQM) Credentials Manager is the central panel where you can review and clean up the device credentials VNQM uses to connect to your monitored voice and network devices. From this one panel, you can see every stored credential, find out which devices each credential is used by, and remove credentials you no longer need.

In Credentials Manager, you can:

  • View every credential stored in VNQM along with its user name, type, and the number of devices that use it.

  • Group the list by credential type or by device, so you can quickly find what you are looking for.

  • Delete credentials you no longer need.

  • Unlink a credential from specific devices without deleting the credential itself.

Supported credential types include:

  • CLI: Command-line (Telnet or SSH) sign-in to a Cisco device. VNQM uses CLI credentials to set up path operations and to poll VoIP gateways

  • AXL: Access to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) administrative API, used to collect call manager information

  • FTP: Access used to retrieve call detail and call management records (CDR/CMR billing data) from a Cisco CallManager

To access Credentials Manager:

  1. Log into the SolarWinds Platform Web Console as an administrator.

  2. Click Settings > All Settings.

  3. Under Product Specific Settings, click VoIP and Network Quality Manager (VNQM) Settings.

  4. Under Details, click VNQM credentials manager.

If the left navigation pane and data table panel are empty, there are no credentials yet.

The credentials table shows the following information:

  • Credential name: the name of the stored credential

  • Username: the user name the credential signs in with

  • Credential type: the kind of credential (CLI, AXL, or FTP)

  • Related nodes: the number of devices (nodes) currently using this credential

All stored VNQM credentials appear in the data table panel on the right. Available actions include:

  • View: Shows every credential VNQM has stored, together with its username, credential type, and the number of devices that use it

  • Group by: Groups the credentials by credential type or by related nodes

  • Delete: Deletes credentials you no longer need and detaches it from every device

  • Unlink nodes: Removes a credential from specific devices without deleting the credential itself, keeping it available for other devices
