Documentation forServer & Application Monitor
Monitoring your applications and environment is a key capability of Hybrid Cloud Observability and is also available in a standalone module, Server & Application Monitor (SAM). Hybrid Cloud Observability and SAM are built on the self-hosted SolarWinds Platform.

SAM License Summary

The SAM License Summary page provides an overview of licensing data that varies according to which license type is applied to your SAM deployment. To learn more about licenses, see the SAM licensing model.

To access this page:

  1. Click Settings > All Settings.
  2. Under Product Specific Settings, click SAM Settings.
  3. On the SAM Settings page, click SAM License Summary.

If you have a node-based SAM license, information on this page includes:

  • Allowed number of managed nodes (based on your license)
  • Total number of nodes:
    • Number of nodes currently licensed and being managed (that is, monitored by SAM via SNMP, ICMP, WMI, agents, or API.)

    • Number of nodes currently unlicensed and not being managed, and

  • Available nodes to be licensed

If you have a component-based SAM license, information includes:

  • Allowed number of component monitors (based on your license)
  • Total number of component monitors created:
    • Number of component monitors currently licensed and collecting data.

    • Number of component monitors currently unlicensed and not collecting data.

This value refers to component monitors that exceed your license tier. For example, if you have a SAM AL300 license but 350 component monitors are assigned, this value would be 50, indicating the amount of component monitors that are not polled.

  • Currently unused number of licensed component monitors

Licensing data for SAM, along with any other SolarWinds Platform products deployed in your environment, is also available on the License Details page. To access that page, click Settings > All Settings > License Details.
