Access is denied when configuring AppInsight for IIS

You may encounter Access Denied errors when you choose not to use the built-in administrator account for IIS polling. This can occur if you create a new user and then add this user to the Administrator's group.

Cause: If the group policy or the local policy has Administrator Approval Mode set to Enable, the polling will fail with an error. This is usually because the administrator account does not have enough permissions.

Resolution:

1. In your local security policy, click Local Policies > Security Options > User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode.

   This should be set to Disabled to let administrators poll properly.

2. Click Local Policies > Security Options > User Account Control: Admin Approval Mode for the Built-in Administrator Account.

   Disable this option to allow the built-in administrator to poll properly.

3. When complete, assign AppInsight for IIS to nodes.
