Select sensors for monitoring (Aruba, Arista, or Cisco devices)

When polling hardware health data using CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB, the SolarWinds Platform monitors only sensors that report a healthy state. You can change this behavior to include sensors with other statuses.
Enabling polling for all sensor status helps you monitor devices more comprehensively and detect problems early.
How it works
Some vendors, such as Arista, Aruba, and Cisco, use CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB to poll hardware health.
CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB returns the following statuses:
-
ok (1) unavailable (2)nonoperational (3)
By default, only sensors with status ok (1) status are added for monitoring. To include all sensors, enable storing hardware health for sensors with any status.
Configure monitoring all sensors globally
-
Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console as an administrator.
-
Click Settings > All Settings in the menu bar.
-
In the Thresholds & Polling grouping, click Polling Settings.
-
Scroll down to the Hardware Health Polling section.
-
Select the Store Hardware Health Sensors With All Sensor Statuses box.
-
Submit your changes.
The SolarWinds Platform will begin polling and storing data from all sensors, not just healthy ones.
Configure monitoring all sensors for specific nodes
Use per-node settings to override the global configuration.
-
Open the Node Details view, and click Edit Node in the Management resource.
-
Scroll down to the Hardware Health Polling section.
-
In the Stored Hardware Health sensors drop-down, select Sensors with any status.
-
Click Submit.
The SolarWinds Platform will begin polling and storing data from all sensors, not just healthy ones.
