Create custom banners for the web console

You can create banners that appear at the top of each SolarWinds Platform Web Console page. Use banners to communicate important information, such as scheduled upgrades, government data classifications, identification of specific deployments when multiple instances exist for a customer, or notifications about known issues or outages.

Before you begin

  • Only two banners can be displayed at a time. You must select which two to display.

  • Dismissible banners always appear below permanent banners.

  • An API is available for banner‑management actions, enabling you to automate specific banner-related tasks.

Add banners

  1. In the SolarWinds Platform Web Console, click Settings > All Settings.

  2. Under Views, click Manage Banners.

  3. Click Add and configure the banner:

    • To include a bold heading, enter a Banner Title.

    • Enter the message content in Banner Message.

    • Select the text alignment in Justification.

    • Select the banner background color in Banner Color.

    • To add a status icon, such as critical or warning, before the text, select the severity in Icon.

    • To allow users to dismiss the banner, enable the Dismissible toggle.

    • To display the banner, enable the Enabled/Disabled toggle.

      You can have only two enabled banners at a time. If you already have two active banners, you must disable one before you can enable another one.

    • To include a link to more information, enter the URL in the Learn More Link field.

  4. Save your changes.

The banner appears at the top of each page, above the menu.

Edit banners

  1. In the SolarWinds Platform Web Console, click Settings > All Settings.

  2. Under Views, click Manage Banners.

  3. Select a banner and click Edit.

  4. Update the title, message, text alignment, color, or any other banner properties.

  5. Save your changes.

The banner is adjusted accordingly.

Hide/show banners

  1. In the SolarWinds Platform Web Console, click Settings > All Settings.

  2. Under Views, click Manage Banners.

  3. Select one or more banners and click Enable or Disable.

Disabled banners no longer appear in the web console but remain available in the Manage Banners list. You can edit or enable them later.

Delete banners

  1. In the SolarWinds Platform Web Console, click Settings > All Settings.

  2. Under Views, click Manage Banners.

  3. Select one or more banners and click Delete.

Deleted banners are permanently removed and no longer appear in the web console or in the banners list.
