Documentation forMobile Admin
Effective December 31, 2021, Mobile Admin has reached its end of life and is no longer available or supported. If you liked Mobile Admin, consider trying another SolarWinds product.

SolarWinds information for Mobile Admin

This document provides information about how to use Mobile Admin to view alerts, nodes, node details, components, interfaces, applications, and top 10 lists from SolarWinds.

All the procedures in this chapter assume that you have accessed the SolarWinds application by selecting the SolarWinds icon from your Mobile Admin Manage Services list, or from a view of a server reached from the Mobile Admin Manage Hosts screen.

If you use Free Mobile Monitor for NPM or SAM, only certain features are available, such as alerts, top X lists, viewing problem applications and nodes, and managing nodes.

Supported versions of SolarWinds products

Mobile Admin supports the following SolarWinds products:

  • Network Configuration Manager (NCM), version 7.0 and above
  • Network Performance Manager (NPM), version 10.2 and above
  • NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA), version 3.9 and above
  • Server and Application Monitor (SAM), version 5.0 and above
  • User Device Tracker (UDT), version 2.0 and above

Detection

SolarWinds is detected if an HTTP GET request to https://server:17778/SolarWinds/InformationService succeeds.

Authentication

You may use either SolarWinds specific credentials or Windows domain credentials.

  • Select Orion for SolarWinds specific credentials.
  • Select Orion AD for Windows domain credentials.

Communication method

The communication method is the SolarWinds Web Services API over HTTPS or TCP depending on which type of Orion authentication is selected.

Troubleshooting

The following section describes troubleshooting steps and solutions for common problems with communication between Mobile Admin and SolarWinds products.

Connect to SolarWinds

If you cannot connect to your SolarWinds server, use the following steps to identify the area with the communication issue.

  1. Use a browser on your Mobile Admin server to connect to your SolarWinds server.
  2. Use a browser on your Mobile Admin server to connect to
    https://MYORIONSERVER:17778/SolarWinds/InformationService

You may encounter a security warning when accessing this page.

If you cannot connect to your SolarWinds server, check your network connection and ensure that the server is available and accepting connections.

If you cannot connect to https://MYORIONSERVER:17778/SolarWinds/InformationService, restart the SolarWinds Information Service (SWIS), and check that ports 17778 and 17777 are open.

Viewe data

Some time-based fields may not be accurate. Make one or more of the following suggestions to increase the accuracy of these fields:

Synchronize the time between the Mobile Admin server and your SolarWinds server.

Ensure that both the Mobile Admin server and the SolarWinds server are on the same time zone.

Upgrade the Mobile Admin .NET version to match the SolarWinds server.

Change the URL of the SolarWinds web server

You can change the URL that Mobile Admin uses to connect to your SolarWinds products.

Navigate to the host of your SolarWinds installation.

Select Host Properties.

Modify the field Rewrite root SolarWinds Web Console URL: to reflect the location of your SolarWinds web server.

Click Save.

Manage SolarWinds
