Manage BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 with Mobile Admin

This section provides information about how to use the Mobile Admin Client to manage the BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5 and the BlackBerry Dispatcher Service.

In order for Mobile Admin to manage BES 5, the BlackBerry Administration API must be installed on the computer from which the BES 5 server is visible. Additionally, all the procedures in this section assume that you are logged in to Mobile Admin and that you have selected a server running the BlackBerry Administration API from your Manage Hosts list, or selected the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service from the Manage Services list.

Detection

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server is detected if a successful HTTP connection can be made to the BAS web services URL.

Authentication

Mobile Admin will prompt you for your BlackBerry Enterprise Server credentials. Users will need to be assigned an administrative role on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Communication method

The BlackBerry Administration Service web application is used for managing.

Troubleshooting

A supported web browser on the Mobile Admin Server should be able to connect to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
